Coroner releases name of 75-year-old man found in Rock River

The Winnebago County Coroner released the name of the 75-year-old man whose body was found in Rock River on Sunday.

Ramon Gamboa, 75, from Rockford was identified as the victim.

The coroner's office says an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday. The Rockford Police Department is investigating the death.

A body found in the Rock River on Rockford's west side is identified as a 75-year-old male presumably from Rockford, according to Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz.

Hintz says he's not sure how the man got in the river, but he wasn't there long before being located Sunday afternoon behind 111 West State Street.

The man has been identified, but his name is withheld pending family notification.

Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz has confirmed that a body has been pulled from the Rock River behind 111 West State Street in Rockford.

All he is able to confirm right now it that the body is male.
