ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Twelve Bloom Elementary School choir students put their talents to the test Tuesday morning, performing a professional opera production in front of other students.
The fifth graders performed an Opera for the Young production in front hundreds of staff, students and parents on Tuesday.
Opera for the Young is a musical organization based in Madison, Wisconisn that shares music with different elementary schools in the Midwest and performs along with their choirs.
"The most satisfying thing is to show an entire gymnasium full of children what it is to put on an opera and what it is to witness opera," said Opera for the Young pianist Jason Kutz. "To show that it can be fun, be heartfelt, also be funny, it can be very powerful."
The choir heads to Janesville before taking a holiday break. After the holidays, Opera for the Young starts a tour that goes from January to May.
