ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Hail from this week's storm may have left behind some damage in the stateline, but the Better Business Bureau warns to be watch out for repair scams.
According to the BBB 'storm chasers' can take advantage of people who are in need of repairs after a damaging storm. That can include roofing contractors, landscapers, siding contractors, tree service companies and auto body repairmen.
To avoid becoming a victim of a scam, the BBB says to get several quotes before choosing a contractor, don't pay in advance for a repair job and avoid hiring anyone who shows up at your door offering repair services.
