Best Buy takes recycled electronics on Earth Day

Rockford, Ill (WIFR) -- Best Buy celebrated Earth Day by encouraging people to responsibly get rid of old devices at their stores.

Customers traded in electronics like phones, tablets and printers, and received a gift card if the device still had value. All Best Buy stores take more used electronics and recycle them for free if they can't be traded in.

"Because we are an electronic store people are constantly buying new stuff, and their broken ones at home they have nowhere to put them but the garbage,” said back office leader, Hannah Johnson. “So Best Buy came up with a recycling program, so when you're looking for a new products, bring your old ones in at the same time, we'll take care of it, and you leave with a new one."
