BELOIT, Wis. (WIFR) -- Stateline high school students looking for plans after graduation may have a reason to stay close to home.
Beloit College is offering a generous $32,000 scholarship per year, allowing students who grew up around the Stateline to use it for four years.
Aspiring students who seek the scholarship must be from Green, Rock or Walworth counties in Wisconsin or Boone, Stephenson or Winnebago counties in Illinois.
Beloit College says this first-time scholarship is the largest award it offers. Leaders hope more students will consider furthering their education locally.
"We know that over the years we've had some really incredible students who have come from the Stateline area, but we think there should be more of them," said Bill Mortimer, director of enrollment at Beloit College. "We really believe that every student in this area should have access to the best private college in Wisconsin."
The scholarship is fully-funded by alumni and friends of Beloit college. Aspiring students can apply for the scholarship until Jan. 15, 2019.
