Autism awareness event seeks to educate people about autism spectrum disorder

ROCKFORD,IL (WIFR) -- Families who have a child with autism and people just looking to learn more about autism spectrum disorder got that opportunity and so much more at the at the 8th annual autism awareness event.

There was about 300 people in attendance at the annual event that started nearly eight years ago.

The idea is to educate people about autism spectrum disorder and let people know more about what resources are available to them.

Several hands on learning activities gave people at the event the opportunity to incorporate tips into their family's life.

Event organizers say there were several people in attendance who were thankful to be able to learn so much valuable information.
