Authorities: 28 people, 80 charges for sex trafficking tied to Rockford lingerie shops

Twenty-eight people face a combined 80 charges over alleged sex trafficking.

The charges are tied to sex trade allegations involving Chantilly Lace and Exclusive Lingerie Boutique. Both shops shut down in May after detectives determined there were code violations.

Chantilly Lace owner Peggy D. Smith, 57, of Rockford, is in custody. She is charged with 12 counts of Promoting a Place of Prostitution.

Twenty-seven other suspects are wanted by police. All are charged with patronizing a prostitute and solicitation of a sexual act.
