BELVIDERE, Ill. (WIFR) -- Just over 222,000 people attended the Boone County Fair this year -- squashing records for the past couple years.
The six-day event drew on 211,000 in 2017, and 208,000 last year.
Organizers attribute high turnout with the different attractions, including livestock and home arts exhibitors, hundreds of vendors, and 80+ shows during the event.
The fair has been at the Boone County Fairgrounds for 55 years; the annual fair began in 1855.
The Boone County Granges, which are rooted in agriculture, own and operate the fair.
Next year's fair dates are Aug. 11 to 16.
