UPDATE: Chase suspect not involved in armed robbery

UPDATE: ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Police say the driver of a car involved in a police chase Monday was not connected to an armed robbery like originally thought.

Around 10:45 p.m. Monday, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies chased a car that matched the description of a car used in the robbery that had just happened at the U.S. Cellular Store on East State Street.
The chase ended when the driver crashed into a deputy’s squad car at Riverside and Huffman Boulevard.

Police say the man behind the wheel, 21-year-old Juquavion Evans was not involved with the robbery. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Evans now faces a handful of charges including fleeing from police. The two people who were with Evans were released with no charges.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Three men are in custody after police say they robbed a store and lead Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies in a chase.

Investigators say at around 10:45 AM, a Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputy spotted a car that matched the description of one used in the armed robbery of a U.S. Cellular store on E. State Street.

While trying to stop the vehicle, the suspects fled and a chase ensued. The chase ended at Riverside and Huffman Boulevard near Boylan High School when the suspect's car collided with a deputy's squad car. The deputy was not hurt and the suspects were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The investigation is still ongoing.
