ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The celebration was in full swing as alignment Rockford kicked off its10th birthday party to recognize the many accomplishments that have happened during the decade.

Those who attended the event were treated to music by grade school students singing about what makes Rockford so great. Mayor Tom McNamara was also there and handed out keys to the city to many people who play a key role in making alignment Rockford as successful as it is. Members of the organization discussed future goals they want to accomplish and of course no birthday is complete without some birthday cake.

"We have a history, we have a legacy of attacking problems and being innovative and those children are what make it worth it,” said Rev. K. Edward Copeland. “I mean we're not doing any of this for us we're doing this for the next generation. We want to pass on a better democracy than the one we found."
