ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A short term certificate that lands you a job. A Rock Valley program is following up on its promise of finding students employment.
You may recall in September, Rock Valley College received a $1.5 million Workforce Equity Initiative Grant. This would allow some students to get tuition help and job placement by completing a course in fields like welding, cold forming, and truck driver training. Today, RVC hosted a job fair for the first group of students to complete the WEI Program.
Vice President of the Work Force Development, Chris Lewis, spoke to us about their success, "Because of the work of Representative West, the approve and leadership of the Rock Valley Board of Trustees, and our president, Dr. Doug Jensen, that we are making the difference in the lives of the people that we're touching. So we are excited. We hope that based on the successes that we're having right now, that it would be a no brainer to reward these dollars to help change this community."
