7th Street fire leaves $200K in damages, injures firefighter

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Rockford fire crews were called to a fire at 2:32 a.m. Sunday in a fourteen-unit apartment building 409 7th Street.

Fire crews say the kitchen in a third-floor apartment was on fire and had already spread to the ceiling and into the attic space.

Fire crews started to evacuate everyone. It took 42 firefighters to work on getting this fire under control. That process took two hours.

Three apartments had fire damage and two others had smoke and water damage.

No civilians were hurt, but one firefighter had minor injuries.

The damage estimate is $200.000. The cause it under investigation.
