BELIOT, WIS. (WIFR) -- If you're looking to add a furry friend to your family, you may want to think about adopting one, and many four legged friends are available at local shelters around the Stateline.
Many families and their pups make their way to the 11th annual Pet-A-Palooza this afternoon where pet vendors sell doggie treats and collars and show off goodies for a silent auction. Many rescue shelters also show some of the animals that are up for adoption like a pair of Maltese’s Autumn and Oakley, who are available at A Promise of Love Rescue in Beloit.
"There's so many animals without homes. Owners surrenders, puppy mill dogs, stray animals, and we'd rather give these guys a second chance and to hopefully have a happy life,” said Pet-A-Palooza organizer Jeannine French.
October is National Adopt a Shelter Pet month, and there are plenty of pets available. The proceeds from Pet-A-Palooza go to benefit local animal rescues and shelters.
