ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Easterseals Autism program held a world of bullying prevention day event the organization partnered up with the Rockford IceHogs.
The University of Illinois in Rockford hosted this event where attendees were treated to a special screening of the "I choose kindness video. The artwork from the students of Easterseals and people across the nation were on display. After the screening, the Leo club was presented with the kindness award. People also got a chance to meet the IceHogs players and get their autographs. Resources were provided to guide people on what to do when they get bullied.
"I love being a part of this it always makes you feel so good and it makes you feel so good when people are involved and when the community gets involved, “said Christine Oakes whose daughter is part of the Easterseals program.
"The community is actually the key part it’s not just at school, home, or at daycare or at church we all have to come together and say we're not tolerating it anymore,” Lorie Davie program manager for the autism program of Easterseals.
