Rosecrance offers TMS technology to treat severe depression

October is national depression awareness month; and Rosecrance offers Trancranial Magnetic Stimulation or TMS treatment at it's Aspen Counseling facility, for those suffering from severe depression.

TMS is FDA approved, non-invasive, and often highly effective for those who haven't had previous success in treating depression or Seasonal Affective Disorder.

"Medications like SSRI's, like Prozac or Zoloft; they work receptively," says Rosecrance Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tom Wright. "So there are serotonin receptors all over your body, including your G.I. tract and your lungs. So they can have a lot of side effects and TMS doesn't because it's only working on that specific area of the brain that affects depression"
