53-year-old woman dies after pedestrian crash
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - A 53-year-old woman died Sunday night after being hit by an alleged drunk driver.
Police say the accident happened around 10 p.m. Sunday near the 4900 block of Harrison Avenue.
The driver, Efrain Dominguez Jr., 25, of Rockford, remained on scene. He faces DUI and aggravated DUI causing death charges.
Investigators say the woman was found lying in the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police tweeted about the incident as soon as it happened.
Pedestrian crash at Harrison and Forest View. Adult female was struck and has succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident. Please avoid the area as we continue our investigation.
