ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) The Illinois Snow Sculpting Competition is underway at Sinnissippi Park.

The free, family-friendly event runs Wednesday January 26 through Saturday, January 29, 2022 and is hosted by the Rockford Park District. The community winter event brings teams from around the state to Rockford to compete for the right to represent Illinois in the U.S. Nationals Snow Sculpting Competition. Sponsors say the event draws about 50,000 visitors to see the massive works of snow art each year.

New to the competition this year is the chance to vote online for a people’s choice award in both the state and high school division. Votes are accepted online or through text message on Saturday, January 29 between 8:30 a.m. and noon.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 1:00 pm.
