ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - As local shopping malls make a comeback post pandemic, not all are able to recover.

Parent company of Forest Plaza, Washington Prime Group, announces it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company says they’re still struggling from the COVID-19 pandemic, and filing will help ensure they can continue business operations.

Washington Prime Group says it’s not going out of business, and it will continue to own, manage, activate, lease and redevelop its town centers. The company also says this announcement doesn’t impact its tenants and they expect the announcement to have a minimal impact on its operations.
