WCHD opens registration for COVID-19 vaccine
WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) - For those who want to get in line to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, there now is a way to get your name on the list at the Winnebago County Health Department.
“We were going to need a registration and scheduling system and really a way for the community to really put their names in if they want a vaccine,” Winnebago County Public Health Administrator Dr. Sandra Martell said.
The first step for the public to receive their COVID-19 vaccine is a pre-registration link that dropped on the Winnebago County Health Department’s website over the weekend, and 4,500 people are already in line.
“This is not a first come first serve,” Martell said. “The fact that people saw the slow roll over the weekend and started does not mean that they get in front of the line for a vaccination.”
The registration process features multiple pages of questions, that ask for information like your first and last name, where you live, and where you work.
“We ask that you not share the link around Facebook, but go to the trusted websites where it’s located,” Martell said. “You will be sharing protected health information as you register for this vaccine.”
Martell says registration is just the beginning of the vaccination process but asks to remain patient until the call comes your way.
“This is not like a concert ticket where we all kind of rapid dial-in whoever gets the most calls gets the first tickets,” Martell said. “The system will help us prioritize based on phase who should be offered those appointments first.”
