Powerhouse Riverwalk opens to the public
BELOIT, Wis. (WMTV) - Beloit’s Powerhouse Riverwalk isn’t quite done yet, but it is ready for the public.
On Wednesday, the city announced people could start using the 850-foot path along Pleasant Street that links downtown Beloit and Riverside Park.
City officials described it as “transform(ing) a sidewalk… into a well-lit concrete path and bridge structure along the edge of the Rock River.”
It is right next to the Beloit Powerhouse, a combined student and community center, that Beloit College is creating using an old Alliant Energy/WPL power plant.
City leaders are planning a ribbon cutting at a later date to mark the opening.
