A group of animal rights activists protest naked in Bulgaria today against the use of bear skin caps by British Royal Guards.

PETA says one black bear has to be killed for every cap produced. They want manufacturers to stop the killing in Canada in order to use the fur for the making of guard's hats.

The protesters will continue their demonstration in Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

As someone who has raised orphaned bear cubs back home in Canada and who knows just how absolutely precious and wonderful these animals are - I shake with anger every time I see the Queens Guards with sporting their bear skin hats :( There are beautiful alternatives which would be lighter more comfortable for the soldiers to wear - most of all they would be CRUELTY FREE. I said it to the Royal Family back before Diana and Charles were married, when they ordered 1000 Canadian Black Bears to be killed FOR THE CEREMONY- and I will continue to say to them until they hear the voice of the public - LEAVE OUR BEARS ALONE - their skin, their fur is beautiful only - on them !

It is appalling that people in the 21st Century are still wearing fur. They have obviously never seen footage of fur farms and how millions of dogs, cats, and other animals are electrocuted anally and often skinned alive. In this case, it's also appalling that one bear has to die for each hat on each guard. What an appalling waste of precious life. However in a country which fights to keep the horrific practice of fox hunting, this is no surprise. There will never be peace, while animal exploitation exists.
