Dogs Stay with Dead Owner Save Email Print

An amazing story of loyalty, even in death, has a family in Colorado feeling a much deeper love for two family pets.

Family members of Gary Lorenz say he disappeared in September from his home in Cotopaxi, Colorado. Lorenz suffered from Alzheimer's and his body was found last week. A hunter found his body and also found his two Golden Retrievers, who stayed with Lorenz the entire time.

Family members say three weeks passed after Lorenz passed away, but the dogs didn't leave his side.

The dogs, Pippin and Merry, are both three years old and are brother and sister.

The dogs lost about 9-pounds during that time, but are otherwise in good condition.

Family members say Lorenz loved his dog and that they never left his side, even in death. Lorenz' daughter says the dogs were her father's best friend.

If only we could live up to the Golden Rule... "Do unto others as you would have them do unto to you". I Guess Golden's are where the rule devired from. I love both of mine.
