Meteor Lights Up the Stateline

Reports from the National Weather Service say a meteor lit up the sky, and it was seen soaring across five states.

Stateliners in Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois were in the viewing area of the stellar light show.

23 News sister station NBC 15 in Madison, Wisconsin reports that the light show was caught on Howard County Sheriff Deputy Tim Beckman's the dash cam.

I was letting my dog out for last call when a bright light in the sky cought my eye. Very bright, and dashing across the sky like a firework. I stood there frozen with amazment. I didnt know what I was looking at. I only hoped I wasnt the only one that saw it. So glad I got to see this. May never see that again.

I was getting in my car after watching a few baseball games at the sports core. Everyone was in the parking lot at that time, and was just staring at the sky for at least five minutes after it happened.

I was in my living room watching the news when I saw a very bright flash of light out the west windows of our house. At first I thought it was lightning, but after looking out the window, I could see what looked like fireworks to the west with about 6-10 fireballs streaming from the west sky to the southwest horizon line, but I could did not hear any explosion. The explosion or break-up of the meteor looked like a what a small bottle rocket looks like when it explodes, only much larger.

I was driving back from Sun Prairie to Janesville on I-90 when I saw one flash and then a real bright flash to the south. I also thought it was lightening and came home to watch the news to see no storms in the area. It was quite a sight!

I was driving down Guilford road towards Alpine when I noticed the sky light up. I happened to look up and saw the meteor. It looked like a very bright flickering light. I called my husband to make sure I hadn't missed the rapture. :)
