A very moist and warm system will pull out of Texas tonight wreaking havoc on the Stateline. Freezing rain is expected to start after midnight Sunday. Up to a quarter of an inch of ice accumulation is expected by daybreak. By morning the freezing rain will change to rain and the rain will be heavy at times. By Sunday evening the rain will change to snow from west to east with the heaviest accumlations expected north and west of Illinois.
Freezing rain is very dangerous to drive on. Be sure to use extreme caution if you are driving in it. The freezing rain will accumulate on tree branches and power lines and that could lead to power outages.
Heavy rain will be falling on thick snowpack and this will likely cause some flooding. If you encounter a flooded roadway, do not attempt to cross it, instead find another route.
