LOVELAND, Colo. (AP) -- Hundreds of people have been forced from their home as smoke from a massive wildfire in northern Colorado blows into southeast Wyoming.

Overnight winds from the southwest blew smoke into Wyoming today, leaving a pungent odor around Cheyenne, about 50 miles north of the fire. The fire, 15 miles west of Fort Collins, has burned 73 square miles and destroyed more than 100 structures.

In southern New Mexico, hundreds of residents remain out of their homes after a lightning-sparked fire raced across more than 34,000 acres in a matter of days. It has damaged or destroyed at least 224 homes and other structures in the mountains outside of the resort community of Ruidoso.

Wildfires are also burning in Utah and Arizona.
