ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Officials confirm that it was a tornado that destroyed a mobile home in southeast Missouri late yesterday, leaving a man and his two adult sons dead.
It was part of a storm that hit Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky.
A sheriff says the mobile home was smashed beyond recognition.
The National Weather Service determined that the tornado was 75 yards wide, with peak winds of 115 miles an hour.
The storm produced nearly an inch of rain in some areas, while leaving others dry. It was so spotty, it did virtually nothing to relieve the moderate to severe drought conditions in the area.
