90s are forecast to return Thursday, with another visit scheduled for at least half of our upcoming Memorial Day weekend! This, coming off of back to back 90s this past weekend, would put is in some pretty rare company when it comes to early season warmth!

The 91° currently forecast for Thursday would be the 3rd 90°+ temperature of 2012! In examining the previous 106 years for which weather records are available for Rockford, just three previous years had featured 3 or more 90s by May 24th! Of those years, two of them went on to produce an extremely hot summer! 1921 totaled 62 days with highs of 90° or higher, the biggest total ever! 1934 came in at #3 for 90s, having tallied 52 days with 90s or above! Is that an indication that we're in for a brutally hot summer? Not necessarily. The third year that had produced so many early 90s, 1962, only ended up with 8 total 90s all summer long!

One thing's looking more and more likely, though. All systems appear go for the hottest air since early August to arrive here for the latter half of the holiday weekend!
