Superstorm Sandy One Month: Local Red Cross Volunteers Still Helping Cleanup

UNDATED (WIFR) -- Its been more than one month since Superstorm Sandy hit the east coast and the American Red Cross has raised nearly $170 million.

The organization plans to spend $110 million on the emergency relief efforts through the end of the year. Right now, around 3,000 Red Cross workers are still helping, 12 are from Rockford and Freeport. Over the last month the Red Cross has provide more than seven million meals and five million relief items, including winter coats, blankets and cleaning supplies to those in need after Superstorm Sandy.
