Warmer air arrives in the Stateline as October begins, just days after concluding a chilly, wet September!

September's average temperature measured just 61.4°, which is 2.5° below normal. It's a reading that's earned September, 2011 the distinction of being the 22nd coolest September since records began here in 1906! This despite recording back to back 90s on the 1st and 2nd days of the month!

Rainfall-wise, the tides turned dramatically toward September's conclusion. When all was said and done, Rockford recorded 5.33" of rain in the month of September, making September, 2011 the 27th wettest in 106 years of records! If you were to take out the record 3.93" of rain that fell on September 26, believe it or not, it would have been the 11th DRIEST on record!
