UPDATE: Rockford Snow Emergency Declaration in Effect Until 3 P.M.

UPDATE: The City of Rockford Snow Emergency Declaration is in effect until 3:00 p.m. today, Monday, December 9th and vehicles should be parked on the odd numbered side of the street so that the plows can safely go down the streets.

The city is reporting that contractors have completed plowing all residential routes and crews are continuing to work on salting the residential streets.

We're reminded to follow at a safe distance behind snowplows that way salt that is being spread will be less likely to hit your car and the added distance also allows a driver room to back up if needed.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The City of Rockford has declared a snow emergency.

That means the odd/even parking rules are in effect. All cars need to be on the even numbered side of the street by 9pm Sunday. They need to be moved to the odd numbered side by 8am Monday.

The city is salting and plowing city streets. At 10pm contractors will start plowing residential streets.
