Stateliners are staying out of the heat by keeping cool inside with the AC, but some Stateline families are still going about their summer plans.

Rock Cut State Park camper Susan Barchard says, "We didn't realize how dependent you are on ice until a day like today when you don't have it. It has never melted on us like this as fast as it has." Another camper Doug Kaiser says, "It's melting fast, even in the good cooler that we have."

Families camping at Rock Cut State Park rely on ice not only to keep their drinks cold, but to preserve their food. "We want our chocolate to stay cold for smores tonight," says Barchard.

Ice delivery men have to move quickly with the intense heat, because a bag of ice could turn into a bag of ice. Nuckles Ice Delivery man Brandon Barr says, "It's so much hotter. This is more busier than I've ever been working here so it's really stressful." Barr starts with nearly 200 bags of ice, and says he has to hustle the minute he loads his truck. "I usually lose refrigeration around 2, 3 o'clock. But lately for the past week, I lost my refrigeration at noon," says Barr. He says it's a cool feeling having so many people rush to greet him when he makes his deliveries. "It's kind of funny because I've never had this happen before," he says.
