ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Flooding and power outages are still a problem, four days after Hurricane Irene swept ashore and now more help from the Stateline is on the way to the East Coast.
Mindy Wing is a volunteer disaster action team member with the Red Cross here in Rockford. She is leaving Thursday morning at 6:00 a.m. fly to Albany, New York. Where she will meet more then 4,000 Red Cross workers that are helping with the Hurricane Irene recover efforts.
"So it's in my heart to go and when I was watching the news. Seeing the footage i just i immediately wanted to go. So i notified the red cross and told them i wanted to go and it's took this long to find a position for me that's open," Wing said.
Wing will be doing disaster assessments for the next two weeks.
