It was a streak for the record books... almost! Dallas residents had endured 40 consecutive days with triple digit temperatures, and were just two days away from tying an all time record set over three decades ago!
By 2:00pm the temperature at Dallas-Ft. Worth had reached up to 96°, and 100° was very much in sight. However, a nearby thunderstorm sent out a cool outflow in the direction of the Metroplex, which sent temperatures down to 84° within minutes!
But the heat was determined to not go down without a fight, and by 4:33 PM, the temperature had recovered all the way back to 97°! But that was as close as they'd get to seeing a 41st consecutive day in the triple digits. Were it not for a tiny thunderstorm that never did rain over the city, we'd be talking about history being made tomorrow! Residents of Dallas probably don't mind the "lucky break."
