ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- UPDATE: The City of Rockford Public Works Department has lifted the snow emergency effective immediately.

Crews continue to respond to individual salt or plowing requests. Individual salt and/or plow requests can be made by calling 815-987-5771.

Decisions about further deployment will be made, as needed, according to developing conditions.

The City of Rockford Public Works Department will resume salting Arterial Routes at 8:30 PM today. The Odd/Even Parking has been in effect since 12:00 PM today and will remain in force until further notice.

- THE ODD/EVEN PARKING IS IN EFFECT SO THAT THE PLOWS CAN SAFELY
GO DOWN THE STREETS. THE NEXT DAY WHEN THE PARKING CHANGES
TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET, THE PLOWS MAY OR MAY NOT
RETURN TO CLEAR THE OTHER SIDE. IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, PLEASE REMOVE
YOUR VEHICLE FROM THE STREET. IF UNABLE TO, PLEASE OBSERVE THE
ODD/EVEN PARKING.

- EFFECTIVE 12:00 PM TODAY, DECEMBER 21, 2013, CARS SHOULD BE PARKED
ON THE ODD NUMBERED SIDE OF THE STREET.

- EFFECTIVE 8:00 AM TOMORROW, DECEMBER 22, 2013, CARS ARE TO BE
PARKED ON THE EVEN NUMBERED SIDE OF THE STREET.

Citizens are urged to follow at a safe distance behind snowplows. This will prevent
the salt that is being spread from hitting your vehicle and the added distance also
allows a driver room to back up if needed.

Decisions about further deployment will be made, as needed, according to developing
conditions

ROCKFORD – City of Rockford Public Works crews began resalting residential streets at 9:00 AM, Saturday, December 21, 2013. This operation will continue until such time as the impending winter storm moves into our area this evening. When that occurs, the crews will be moved into an arterial salting / plowing operation that can be expected to continue through Sunday, December 22, 2013.

Due to anticipated weather conditions, the Snow Emergency continues with the Odd/Even parking ordinance in effect at noon today, Saturday, December 21, 2013, and citizens will be required to follow this protocol or move their vehicles off the street until further notice.

Street Division employees will continue salting and plowing arterial streets tonight. Contractors will begin salting residential streets at 10 p.m. Decisions about further deployment will be made, as needed, according to developing conditions. The City and its contractors are not responsible for plowing alleyways.

Citizens are urged to follow at a safe distance behind snowplows. This will prevent the salt that is being spread from hitting your vehicle and the added distance also allows a driver room to back up if needed.
