To say that July, 2011 was an eventful month would be a dramatic understatement! Now that the month has come to a conclusion, here are some of the statistics!

July, 2011 goes into the books as the 5th warmest on record here in Rockford! The average temperature for the month was 78.9° (combining highs and lows), with is an astonishing 6.0° above normal! Included in this very warm month, two consecutive days with 100° temperatures. Prior to those triple-digit readings, it had been 22 years without a 100° temperature.

Every single day of July, 2011 registered highs in the 80s or above... In fact, every single day recorded a high of 81° or higher. There had previously been just 6 years that had seen all 31 July days of 80° or higher... and just 4 prior years with temps of 81° or higher throughout the month!

Interesting note about July's precip. July, 2011 will go into the books as the 46th wettest with its 4.60" rainfall tally. But what's extremely intriguing is that as recently as July 21, we were on pace to record just 0.28", a tally which would have made July, 2011 the driest July on record here!
