RENO, Nev.(AP) -- A break in wildfire-charred parts of western Nevada.

Thunderstorms and predicted flash flooding failed to materialize Tuesday in areas stripped of vegetation by the flames. A flash flood watch was canceled after the Sierra got less than an inch of rain.

Meanwhile, officials have lifted an evacuation order for the mountain town of Jarbidge, Nevada, on the Idaho border. The town is threatened by a blaze that has blackened nearly 900 square miles. It's just 20-percent contained.

The National Interagency Fire Center in Boise has declared that blaze to be the nation's number-one firefighting priority.
