Based on the above normal soil moisture conditions, current streamflow, frost depths, and the remaining snowpack across far northern Illinois, the flood potential is generally above normal for streams within the Rock River basin as well as portions of the upper Fox and upper Des Plaines river. Elsewhere, the flood potential ranges from near normal to slightly above normal. The severity of the flooding will depend largely on the precipitation received in the coming weeks during the crucial melt period.
