(AP) -- No relief is expected today from the triple-digit temperatures that have folks in the West broiling.
The temperature may soar to 107 in Boise, Idaho, which would be six degrees higher than the record for this date. It was 104 yesterday, prompting some office workers to trade in their suits for bathing suits and their desks for inner tubes for a trip down the Boise River.
Residents in parts of Arizona, California and Nevada have been advised to avoid outdoor activities. It was 125 degrees yesterday in Baker, California, while Phoenix reached 115. The temperature hit 116 in Las Vegas, causing transformers to overheat and electrical poles to catch fire because of all the people switching on their air conditioners.
One meteorologist says there's no relief in sight.
