SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah National Guard has been activated as a wildfire continues to burn in northeastern Utah.
About 100 Guard members will be deployed to assist law enforcement officers at road closures and evacuate campgrounds in areas that are threatened by the Neola fire.
The fire broke out Friday about 100 miles east of Salt Lake City but progress is slow. As of yesterday the fire was only five percent contained.
Three people have been killed and hundreds have been evacuated from their homes. Ashley National Forest has been closed.
