MEYERS, Calif. (AP) -- Fire investigators in California indicate they may have an announcement today on the cause of the wildfire that has chased thousands of people from their homes near Lake Tahoe.

They've already said they believe the fire was caused by human activity but have delayed an announcement to conduct more interviews. U-S Forest Service officials had said there's no indication it was intentionally set.

The blaze has destroyed about 200 homes since Sunday and has spread over about three-thousand acres of land. Winds yesterday blew it across a fireline forcing the evacuation of a 300-home subdivision.

More strong winds are forecast for today which could worsen the problem.

Retired firefighter John Hartzell is among those who've lost their homes. He says he got out with the clothes on his back, his fire coat and his helmet.
