Calmer winds aid Colorado firefight

NEW CASTLE, Colo. (AP) -- Firefighters in Colorado have gotten a break from the weather.

Calmer winds are helping them contain a wildfire that's burned at least 18-hundred acres and forced the evacuation of dozens of homes in rugged terrain.

The Garfield County sheriff says evacuees will remain out of their homes at least through today. No structures have burned in the area 160 miles west of Denver.

The fire is blamed on a lightning strike. A 1994 fire in the same general area killed 14 firefighters.
