Florida residents are usually in shorts and t-shirts, but now they are wearing coats, hats and gloves.
With temperatures expected to hover near or below freezing point in central Florida, there is concern about homeless people and crops.
Growers are spraying their crops with water to protect their vegetables and plants as the freeze approaches.
Meantime, the Salvation Army is preparing for an influx of people trying to get out of the cold.
