Something rare is happening in Madison, Wisconsin. The Titan Arum is in bloom.
But don't expect people to go rushing to the Olbrich Botanical Gardens to see it. The Titan Arum is better known as the Corpse Flower, one of the smelliest plants on earth.
The scent has been compared to the smell of a rotting animal. That's bad for humans but great for beetles. They associate the smell with a tasty meal and pollinate the flower.
This is the first time in seven years that this particular Corpse Flower has bloomed. It will stay in bloom between one and five days. Over the course of its 40-year life span a typical Corpse Flower will bloom only four or five times.
