VP Biden Visits Flood Ravaged Georgia

Vice President Joe Biden is in Georgia today where he toured damage from flooding in the southeast US..

From the air, the Vice President was shows some of the devastation after torrential rains flooded parts of the region including parts of the metro Atlanta area..

Waters have begun to recede a bit and Biden, along with the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was able to see some of the damage following the high water.

After the tour, Vice President Biden met with residents who were forced from their homes due to the floods. He said President Obama dispatched him to Georgia to assure residents that even while he's in meetings at the G-20 dealing with the economy, he is being kept up to date of what's going on in Georgia.

The President declared parts of Georgia a disaster and order the federal government to help state and local officials in their recovery efforts.

Biden says the people affected are counting on the government to help and that they "have to get it right."

Meanwhile the region is bracing for more rain. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for the area. Flooding threats remain since the ground is still saturated.
