An early winter storm brought heavy rain and high winds to northern New England Tuesday (11/25).
Power was knocked out to thousands of customers in Maine as a result of the late fall storm. Central Maine Power said more than 7-thousand customers in Maine were without power and that the number was expected to increase until the winds let up later in the evening (11/25). Five schools in Portland, Maine released students early because of the outages.
Intrigued weather watchers were drawn to the coastline to witness the waves brought on by the storm. The National Weather Service reported significant beach erosion as the high tides sent the ocean water well above the rocks and onto the road.
A local marina was not so thrilled by the bad weather after several dingys sank and at least one boat came off its mooring. And this year, with the lobster business already sinking, there will be even more damage to assess after the storm passes.
