So you know it's cold in Florida when the manatees start looking for
a warm spot to hang out.
In the Tampa Bay area...every time there's a cold snap...the manatees make a bee-line to the TECO Power Plant in Apollo Beach. The water around the plant is warmed by the utilities operations and make a perfect refuge for the sea-going mammals. Hundreds of folks show up every year to watch the manatees at their winter "spa."
