California Wildfires

The mayor of Los Angeles says about 500 mobile homes were destroyed in a wildfire plaguing the city.

No one is reported injured. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said Saturday that the fire has grown to 6,500 acres and is only 10 percent contained.

The wind-blasted fire is one of three in Southern California that have shut down major freeways and forced thousands of people to abandon homes.

In Santa Barbara County, more than 100 homes burned to the ground in the wealthy community of Montecito on Thursday night.

In Orange County, fire officials said at least a dozen buildings had burned in the Yorba Linda area.
