The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has sent 32 firefighters to help with wildfires around the nation. The majority will assist efforts in California, but the state also sent one firefighter each to Texas, Nevada and Virginia. The DNR's chief of forest protection, Trenton Marty, says firefighters get valuable training and experience working in other states. Wisconsin also shipped eight firefighting engines on flatbed trucks to California.
