The Federal Emergency Management Agency says more than $2.3 million in individual disaster assistance grants has already been approved for Illinois residents affected by the recent flooding. Patrick Richards, spokesman for FEMA, said Saturday the individual assistance funding continues to increase because residents affected by the flood have registered. Flood victims can call 1-800-621-FEMA to register. Richards says the sooner they register, the sooner they will receive assistance. About 1,244 homeowners from 18 Illinois counties have applied for assistance so far.
