The federal government is providing workshops throughout Wisconsin to provide advice on trying to make homes disaster resistant. Federal Emergency Management Agency representatives were at a Lowe's home-improvement store in Oshkosh on Friday. They had several tips to improve home flooding resistance. For instance, they recommend using water proofing sealant and paints on basement walls and floors, installing a backwater valve on sewer lines and adding an extra sump pump. The workshops will be held at home-improvement stores and county fairs in flood damaged areas through Monday.
